The Front Office Update

  • Fifth Grade E-Camp Information Night | October 26, 6:30-7:30 PM: All fifth grade students and guardians are invited to join our 5th grade team in the Roosevelt Elementary School Cafe for an information session about Environmental Camp.

  • Mix It Up Day | October 31, 2017: Lunch will be a Mix-It-Up Day! A special lunch where you get to sit with someone new and learn something new about them.

  • Early Release Day | November 1, 12:22 PM: This is a reminder that every first Wednesday of the month is an early release day. Dismissal is at 12:22 PM.

  • A Family Night of Code | November 2, 5:30-7:30: Held at MVMMS Cafeteria, All Grades K-5 Students & their families are invited to a drop in night of plugged and unplugged coding activities that will help students and families further develop their 21st century learning skills.

  • Melrose Youth Hockey  | November 4: “Mite Instructional” and “Learn-to-play Hockey” programs kick off another fun season.

  • Melrose Little League Registration  | Open through November 14: Melrose Little League is an instructional baseball league for all children ages 4 through 12. Our goals include creating a positive environment for young baseball players to enhance their confidence by placing them in appropriate divisions and instilling in them a sense of fair play and respect for others while fostering appreciation for teamwork through participation in LLB.

  • Melrose Youth Orchestra  | Starting  November 14: The Youth Orchestra is open to all Melrose students who have been playing a string instrument for at least one year. The Youth Orchestra provides an exciting opportunity for students to learn to play their instruments with others and experience the music of a large ensemble. The Youth Orchestra rehearses from 2:45 – 4:00 in MVMMS Orchestra Room (E108) every Tuesday that school is in session, starting November 14th. If your child would like to participate, but doesn’t have a ride, please contact Mr. Miller to connect with other families from your school who may be able to help with carpooling. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Mr. Miller at [email protected].

  • 5th Grade Visit to Middle School | December 7, 2017: Save The Date: Melrose Veterans Memorial Middle School invites families of 5th Graders to visit the Middle School, hear about the opportunities at the middle school and tour the building. This Family Information Night is scheduled for Thursday, December 7, 2017 at 6:30 PM. It will start in The Performing Arts Center at MVMMS. Both students and parents/guardians are welcome to attend. In the spring a parent information night is also offered and 5th graders tour the Middle School with their classes but this give families a sneak peek at what lies ahead.   • Melrose Parent University 2017 | November 18, 8:30 AM-12:30 PM: Parent University is a half day of workshops for parents, caregivers, educators, and community members focused on education and related topics .

  • Picture Retake Day  | November 30: Picture retakes will be held on Thursday, November 30th. If you lost you picture day forms, please come to the office for a new form.

PTO Update

Here’s what to know this week:

  • PTO Meeting | Wednesday, October 25, 7-8 p.m. See agenda.

  • Last Frosty Friday is this week | Friday, October 27. After school, buy a popsicle for $1 from the PTO’s 5th Grade Recognition Committee to raise money for the class of 2018 5th grade recognition ceremony and celebration. Weather dependent.

  • Volunteers Needed for Halloween Party | Saturday, October 28, 6-8 p.m. Volunteers needed to make the party a success! Volunteer 1 hour of your time to run games, serve food, setup and cleanup. Sign up here and thank you!

    • Family and friends: come dressed up for Halloween fun.  DJ, dancing and games in the gym; crafts and refreshments in the cafeteria. Bring your camera to take photos in front of a Halloween backdrop!

    • $5 per Roosevelt student with a family cap of $15! (parents, guardians, and non-Roosevelt siblings are FREE!)

    • Pizza, water, and fruit will be available for purchase to benefit the PTO.
      Frosty treats will be available for purchase to benefit the 5th grade recognition ceremony and celebration.

  • Auction Winner Parking Spot | Winning bidders at last year’s PTO auction donated a lot of money for the privilege of parking in this spot; please avoid parking in the space or blocking it.
